Techi Kaso, the lone JD(U) legislator in Arunachal Pradesh, has joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). There are now 49 BJP MLAs in the 60-member state Assembly. This comes after Bihar CM Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) broke alliance with BJP in Bihar. JD(U) had won seven seats in the 2019 state elections. However, six JD(U) MLAs joined BJP in 2020.
