Over 60 percent voter turnout was recorded on Monday across 49 constituencies in six states and two Union Territories during the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The day saw sporadic incidents of violence in West Bengal and EVM glitches at some polling booths in the state and neighbouring Odisha.
Maharashtra had the lowest turnout at 54.33 percent, while West Bengal saw the highest at 76.05 percent.
Other states recorded the following turnouts: Bihar at 54.85 percent, Jammu and Kashmir at 58.17 percent, Jharkhand over 63.09 percent, Odisha at 69.34 percent, Uttar Pradesh at 57.79 percent, and Ladakh at 69.62 percent.
According to figures from the Election Commission as of 11 PM, the approximate overall polling percentage was 60.48%. Although voting officially ended at 6 PM, those in line by that time were still allowed to vote.
