A special CBI court granted bail to RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar in connection with a money laundering case on Monday. Special Judge Arvind Kumar granted the relief to Bharti and Kumar on a personal bond of Rs two lakh with a surety of a like amount each and on the condition that the duo cannot leave the country without its permission. Bharti, Kumar and all the other accused in the case appeared before the court after they were summoned by Special Judge N K Malhotra on February 8. Bharti’s firm Mishail Packers and Printers had been named as an accused in the case, following which the duo had moved bail applications. During the hearing, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed the bail plea of the accused, saying they indulged in a “very serious” economic offence. “Persons on such a post are committing such kind of activities which are totally against the nation,” ED counsel Atul Tripathi said.
