One woman was killed and at least 57 people were injured when a foot overbridge collapsed near the Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML) plant at Chavara here on Monday. While local accounts said a person identified as Shyamala Devi was killed in the incident, police said no casualties were yet reported.
According to the Chavara police, the bridge over National Waterway 3 from the KMML plant to Mineral Separation Unit collapsed at around 11.15 am after a group of employees and protesters entered the bridge at the same time.
