BJP's Basavaraj Bommai resigned as the chief minister of Karnataka on Saturday after his party lost the state assembly election. Bommai tendered his resignation from the post to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, who accepted his resignation. Bommai will remain the caretaker chief minister until the new government takes over in the state.
