At least three unidentified terrorists have been killed in the encounter with the security forces at Khulchohar area in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir police said.

Acting on the information about the presence of terrorists in the area, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Khul Chohar in the south Kashmir district, a police official said. However, the operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire at a search party of the forces, who retaliated. The gunfight is underway and there's a possibility of some more terrorists hiding in the area.

"Their identities are being ascertained. The search operation is underway," Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.

The terrorists were killed in a joint operation between the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir police. One AK-47 assault rifle and two pistols have been recovered from their possession, a spokesperson of the Northern Command said.
