PM Narendra Modi tweeted "it's always people first for us" after the government announced measures to help the common man, including reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel. PM said, "Today's decisions...will positively impact various sectors, provide relief to our citizens and further 'Ease of Living'." Petrol and diesel prices will be cut by ₹9.5 and ₹7 per litre, respectively.
