India was set to cross the milestone of 200 crore (2 billion) Covid vaccination doses on Saturday. The country achieved the feat in 18 months since the first Covid jab was given on January 16, 2021.
A total of 199.97 crore doses of Covid vaccine had been administered across the country till 9pm on Saturday. These included over 5.48 crore precaution doses till Saturday. Besides, more than 3.79 crore first dose of the vaccine had been given to children in the 12-14 age group. Over 71% of the doses have been administered in rural areas.
