India has overtaken China to become the world's most populous country, according to Chinese demographer Yi Fuxian. He claimed that China's actual population is about 1.29 billion, as against 1.37 billion quoted by its government. According to his claims, India has overtaken China five years ahead of forecasts, with a population of more than 1.3 billion people.
