India's coronavirus cases on Saturday crossed the 53-lakh mark after the country detected a spike of 93,337 new cases in the past 24 hours. India's coronavirus tally, including the recovered cases, has now climbed to 53,08,015, according to the Union health ministry.

A total of 1,247 coronavirus patients have succumbed to the infection in the past 24 hours, pushing the country's death toll due to Covid-19 to 85,619. The Covid-19 case fatality rate has further dropped at 1.61 per cent, the data showed.

India's coronavirus caseload includes 10,13,964 active cases. There are 42,08,432 patients who have recovered, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare said on Saturday.

The figures released at 8 am showed that while 95,880 people recovered from coronavirus in a span of 24 hours, 93,337 new infections were recorded during the period.
