The daily Covid count in India continued to remain below 1 lakh for the sixth day in a row. The 80,834 new cases reported on Sunday, the lowest in 71 days, has brought country's total tally to 2,94,39,989, according to the data updated by the Union health ministry at 9am. On June 8, India reported 86,498 cases, the lowest in 63 days. However, deaths have failed to match the fall in the cases and are still hovering above 3,000 mark. In the last 24 hours, 3,303 people died due to Covid in India, taking the total death toll to 3,70,384. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, active caseload has declined by 54,531 to 10,26,159.The recovery rate has improved to 95.36%. A total of 1,32,062 patients were discharged yesterday, taking the total number of discharges to 2,80,43,446. The daily positivity rate stands at 4.25%, which is less than 10% for 20 consecutive days. Over 37 crore samples have been tested for Covid so far, according to ICMR. Of this, 19,00,312 were tested yesterday.
