Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Dr Balram Bhargava on Thursday said that India is heading towards becoming a vaccine super-power. He said that because a large proportion of the population has been vaccinated, India isn't seeing a "third surge in terms of hospitalisations and mortality." India has achieved 96% coverage in first dose vaccination, he added.
