India on Sunday assumed the rotating Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of August. This is India's first Presidency of the 15-nation UNSC during 2021-22 tenure as the body's non-permanent member and India will again preside over the Council in December next year. India's two-year tenure as a non-permanent UNSC member began in January 2021.
