A day after the new rules for discharge by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) were declared, Gujarat discharged record 454 patients in 24 hours. For the first time, the number of discharged patients was higher than the 398 new cases in the state. Total 21 patients succumbed to the virus.
Jayanti Ravi, principal secretary (health & family welfare), said patients were found to be completely cured and fit for discharge. “With discharges on Sunday, Gujarat’s recovery rate is 31% which is higher than several other Indian states,” she said. Of the total discharged, 266 were from Ahmedabad alone, followed by 41in Vadodara, 33 in Surat and 17 in Anand.
