Congress leader and advocate Kapil Sibal who is representing the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) in the Supreme Court said that if Ayodhya is a matter of faith, so is triple talaq. "It is a 1400-year-old practice...who are we to say it is un-Islamic," Sibal asked. He further argued that all societies, including Hindus and Christians, are patriarchal.
