To boost the 'Make in India' programme, the Indian Air Force has shelved its plan to buy 48 additional Mi-17V5 medium-lift helicopters from Russia. India signed a deal with Russia for the acquisition of 80 Mi-17V5 helicopters that were inducted into the force in phases. An additional 48 were planned to be inducted but it will not be done anymore.
