At least 116 people have died and several others were injured after a stampede during the conclusion of Bhole Baba's satsang at Phulrai village near Mandi of Sikandrarau in Hathras district on Tuesday. The stampede apparently occurred due to overcrowding, Sikandra Rao police station SHO Ashish Kumar said.
Taking cognisance of the incident that took place in Hathras, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sought a detailed report from Additional Chief Secretary Home Deepak Kumar. The CM has announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
