Sri Lanka’s newly elected president, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, announced the appointment of Dr. Harini Amarasuriya as the new prime minister of the Indian Ocean island nation on Tuesday.
Amarasuriya, a prominent member of the National People’s Power (NPP), has made history as the 16th person to hold the position.
