Gujarat reported yet another highest single-day spike of 1026 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday. With the death of 34 more COVID-19 patients, the fatalities rose to 2,201, it said.The number of recovered cases rose to 36,403 with 744 more patients getting discharged on Tuesday, the health department said in a release. The state now has 11,861 active cases, with the condition of 82 patients being critical, it said.
Of these fresh cases, Ahmedabad reported 199 more positive patients in the last 24 hours, total coronavirus cases reaches 24,767. The death toll also rose by 1558 after 6 of the new 33 deaths from the state were recorded in Ahmedabad.
Surat reported 298 cases and 21 deaths in the state in the day, it said. With this, Surat's COVID-19 tally crossed the 10,000- mark and reached 10,276, while the death toll mounted to 296, the health department said.
