Gujarat reported 7410 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, the highest daily rise so far, which took its caseload to 3,67,616, the health department said. For the first time since the pandemic began, the one- day rise in cases crossed the 7,000-mark in the state. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 4,995 after 73 more persons succumbed to the infection during the same period. 2642 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered cases in the state to 3,23,371. The number of active cases crosses 39,000-mark. At present, Gujarat has 39,250 active COVID-19 cases, of which, 254 patients are on ventilator. The first dose of vaccine has been given to 85,29,083 persons and the second dose has been given to 12,03,464 persons. A total of 97,32,548 persons have been vaccinated so far. There has been no case of adverse reaction or side-effects of Covid-19 vaccine in the State so far. The state's recovery rate stood at 87.96 percent, it said.
