Gujarat reported 10,340 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, the highest daily rise so far, which took its caseload to 4,04,561, the health department said. For the first time since the pandemic began, the one- day rise in cases crossed the 10,000-mark in the state. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 5,377 after 110 more persons succumbed to the infection during the same period. 3,981 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered cases in the state to 3,37,545. The number of active cases crosses 61,000-mark. At present, Gujarat has 61,647 active COVID-19 cases, of which, 329 patients are on ventilator. The first dose of vaccine has been given to 88,80,954 persons and the second dose has been given to 14,07,058 persons. A total of 1,02,88,012 persons have been vaccinated so far. There has been no case of adverse reaction or side-effects of Covid-19 vaccine in the State so far. The state's recovery rate stood at 83.43 percent, it said.
