Gujarat reported yet another highest single-day spike of 949 new coronavirus cases on Friday, taking the tally to 46,516, the state health department said. With the death of 17 more COVID-19 patients, the fatalities rose to 2,108, it said.The number of recovered cases rose to 32,944 with 770 more patients getting discharged on Friday, the health department said in a release. The state now has 11,464 active cases, with the condition of 71 patients being critical, it said.
Of these fresh cases, Ahmedabad reported 184 more positive patients in the last 24 hours, total coronavirus cases reaches 23,964. The death toll also rose by 1538 after 5 of the new 10 deaths from the state were recorded in Ahmedabad.
Surat reported 236 cases and five deaths in the state in the day, it said. With this, Surat's COVID-19 tally crossed the 9,000- mark and reached 9,141, while the death toll mounted to 245, the health department said.
