The Gujarat government has decided to relax some COVID restrictions put in place across 36 cities from May 21 to May 27. The Vijay Rupani administration has allowed businesses to operate from 9 am till 3 pm from Friday.
Rupani made the announcement to lift the curbs on businesses while undertaking a tour of Saurashtra in the aftermath of the severe cyclonic storm Tauktae which hit Gujarat. However, there will be no relaxations as per the night curfew rules are concerned. In an attempt to contain the COVID spread in the state, the Gujarat government had imposed night curfew in the 36 cities. The curfew is being imposed on a daily basis from 8 pm to 6 am since April 30. While announcing the restrictions, the Rupani government had permitted shops and business establishments selling and dealing with essential items to remain open. The state governmnet had also permitted shops selling vegetables and fruits, bakeries, hotels and restaurants having takeaway facility to operate. Spas, Salons, Parks, Waterparks, Gardens, Swimming pools, Malls, Commercial complexes, Coaching centres, Cinema halls, Gyms to stay closed.
