The Gujarat High Court on Sunday initiated a suo motu PIL over the coronavirus situation in the state. The PIL was heard by the division bench comprising Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Bhargav D Karia. "We're not satisfied with govt's policy. Something needs to be corrected so that people can do something about this pandemic. Court also says that it will meet next on Thursday, 15th April to check what actions are taken by govt," Gujarat High Court said.
The chief justice observed that while it takes 4-5 days for the common man to get the report, officers can get RT-PCR report within hours.
He said that sample collection and testing should be faster while adding that there's no RT-PCR testing centre in taluka and small villages.
Advocate General Kamal Trivedi said that it has become a fight between the people and corona. He also urged people not to rush for Remdisivir injection.
He said that of total production, 70 per cent of oxygen should go to the health sector. Lockdown is not a solution, it will affect the daily wagers. He also said that he would rather suggest a self-lockdown.
But we are not happy with certain policies of the government which are not in placed which needs to be corrected and placed in order. We have tried to indicate . the government and the govt machinery is doing its best, no doubt about that, whatever possible but some things need to be corrected and with those corrections, things will go in a much better way and will help the larger public interest, said Chief Justice to Advocate General.
