Gujarat government gives the go-ahead for the annual Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad amid a tight curfew in the old city, says MoS Home Pradipsinh Jadeja. It will take place on July 12, people will not be able to go out or stand along the route.
Jadeja appealed people not to gather to witness Rath Yatra in person and watch it only through Doordarshan in live telecast mode. He said only five vehicles consisting nishan, danka, three Raths, Mahant/Trustee vehicle will be allowed to participate in Rath Yatra. Khalasi youths who conventionally pull three Raths will require to be those who are vaccinated and RTPCR negative. The present during Rath Yatra will be limited to pujaris and other prescribed persons. Elephants, tableau trucks, akhada, bhajan mandlis etc are not permitted to participate in Rath Yatr aprocession this year.
