Gujarat’s Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay on Saturday directed the preparation of a comprehensive list of anti-social elements within 100 hours in response to recent incidents of street violence.

The list is to include individuals with a history of repeated criminal activity, those involved in extortion, intimidation, property crimes, illegal prohibition and gambling activities, mineral theft, and other anti-social acts.

This decision came after at least 14 individuals were arrested for allegedly attacking commuters and vandalising vehicles with sticks and swords in Ahmedabad’s Vastral area on Thursday night.

State Police Chief Vikas Sahay has also given clear directives on the strict actions to be taken in coordination with the local administration after the list is prepared. These include:

Removing illegal constructions in coordination with local authorities.

Taking legal action against encroachments on government land.

Coordinating with GUVNL to act against illegal electricity connections.

Checking the bank accounts of listed individuals and taking action if any illegal transactions are found.

Additionally, strict measures have been ordered against individuals released on bail who are caught engaging in further illegal activities. This includes cancellation of bail and legal action against those who fail to register their tenancy. The effective provisions of PASA and Tadipar will also be enforced.
