A government school teacher was sentenced to life imprisonment while 18 others were acquitted, 11 years after three persons were murdered over a star ruby stone that was falsely valued in crores. The incident which came to be known as `star ruby triple murder case' was one of the most sensational crimes in 2006 involving a `fakir', gemstone dealers, jewellers from Mumbai and Jayanti Pateliya, the convicted teacher from Shehra taluka in Panchmahal . The sessions court found Pateliya guilty of kidnapping two brothers Darshan and Mihir Thacker and one Balkrishna Patel with intention to murder.
