The government has so far blocked 320 mobile applications under a provision of IT Act, Som Parkash, MoS for Commerce & Industry, informed the Parliament. These applications were "blocked in the interest of sovereignty, integrity, defence and security of the state," he said. In February, 49 apps, re-launched after the rebranding of earlier blocked apps, were blocked, he added.
