After witnessing days of campaigning, the voters of 89 out of 182 assembly constituency were seen queueing to cast their votes in the first phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017. From a 126-year-old voter to a bride to be to a couple before their wedding ceremony, the Gujarat phase I polling had it all it.
126-year-old Ajiben Chandravadiya cast her vote in Upleta on Saturday. Interestingly, Chandravadiya is the oldest voter in the state. Chandravadiya, a resident of Rajkot district, has voted in many elections. Her voter identification card states that her date of birth is January 1, 1891. Similarly, a married couple also came to cast their vote. “I am about to get married today, but as these are the biggest elections we came here and gave our votes. As an Indian citizen, it is our duty and responsibility to vote,” the groom was quoted by media as saying.
