In a significant move to promote cultural heritage and wellness, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has announced free entry to all centrally protected monuments, including the iconic Taj Mahal, on World Yoga Day, June 21. This decision aims to raise awareness about the importance of yoga and its benefits.
Superintending Archaeologist Dr Rajkumar Patel stated that, in accordance with Rule 6 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Rules, 1959, visitors will enjoy complimentary access to these historic sites on Yoga Day. However, he clarified that an additional fee of Rs 200 would still apply to those wishing to visit the main dome of the Taj Mahal. "While entry to the premises will be free, the special fee for accessing the main dome remains unchanged," Dr Patel emphasised.
