Mamata’s close aide, former IPS officer Bharti Ghosh Join Bhartiya Janata Party. She Joined BJP in presence of Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and BJP Leader Kailash Vijayvargiya and Mukal Roy. She was close to West Bengal CM Mamata Banarjee and was also rewarded a service medal on August 15, 2014. For more than six years, Ghosh was the West Midnapore superintendent of police, after that, on December 26 last year, she was transferred as commandant of the third battalion of the state armed police.

She was transferred twice, first by Election Commission before 2014 Lok Sabha Polls and second by the state itself before the 2016 Assembly Elections. An extortion case is also registered against her. This case is under investigation by the CID. Her husband is a CID Officer.

She resigned from the police service two days later.
