Ahmedabad Police Commissioner issued a circular banning Mimicry, Singing and Playing instruments act in public that may end up “toppling the state” or result in a violation of security from May 7 to May 21. The circular was issued under the criminal procedure code’s provision.
According to it, people cannot carry firearms, swords, stones, Rampuri knives longer than six inches, sticks, batons, dagger, explosives and stones. It also prohibits people from shouting, carrying “mashals [torchlights]”, showing or carrying effigies.
Moreover, delivering stylish speeches, mimicry, preparing/exhibiting/disseminating drawings, signs, advertisements or substances that the concerned officers feel can violate the state’s security and result in “toppling the state” have also been prohibited by the police commissioner.
