Over 45,000 employees of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) will go on an indefinite strike from February 20 over various demands, including implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, shutting down of private bus services, among others. Passengers had to bear the brunt of the strike as many were forced to cancel their planned trips. Around 4000 trips were canceled today itself because of the strike.
ST Karmachari Union general secretary PA Sutaria said that their demands include immediate implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission and removal of GPS systems from buses. The strike will hit over 23 lakh passengers and students.
