There are rumors that thousands of employees may soon be let off by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The Washington Post reported that the new round of layoffs will "disproportionately" affect non-engineering positions, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly "deputizing human resources, lawyers, financial experts, and top executives" to develop strategies to flatten the hierarchy within the organization. In November 2022, Meta let off 13% of their global workforce or about 11,000 employees. The corporation justified the layoff at the time on overhiring and unfavorable macroeconomic circumstances.
