The government on Monday, i.e., on April 7, 2025, raised the excise duty on diesel and petrol by Rs 2 per litre. According to the notification issued by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, the change will come into force on April 8, 2025
"The excise duty on petrol was increased to Rs 13 per litre and that on diesel to Rs 10," the order said. However, the PSU oil marketing companies (OMCs) have said that there will be no increase in the retail prices of petrol and diesel.
