Striking down the electoral bonds scheme, a constitutional bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that information about funding to political parties is essential for electoral choices, and the scheme is thus “unconstitutional”. The apex court stated that anonymous electoral bonds violate the Right to Information and Section 19(1)(a).
