Earthquakes turn water into gold as pressure causes sudden vaporisation of water, forcing gold formations along the fault lines in rocks, according to a study. As an earthquake travels along the fault lines, the mineral-rich water in the cracks evaporate, leading to the formation of gold and other minerals in the surrounding surface, approximately 10 kilometres below the Earth's surface.
