Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that vaccination for the 18+ age group in Delhi is being halted from today (Saturday) as the vaccine stocks have run out.
Kejriwal addressed the media on Saturday afternoon and said, “Vaccination for the 18+ category halted in Delhi from today. Vaccine stock for this category has been consumed. Due to this, their vaccination centres have been shut. Only a few vaccines are available at some centres which will be administered today.”
Kejriwal further said that Delhi would need 80 lakh doses of Covid vaccine to inoculate its entire population and the Centre must immediately buy vaccines from foreign nations to supply to the states.
"The Centre should buy Covid-19 vaccines from foreign countries within 24 hours and distribute these among states," said Kejriwal. The Delhi chief minister further said that many countries have stored more vaccines than what they need and the Centre should request them to hand over those vaccines to India.
