TMC leader Babul Supriyo, who quit BJP last year, said the decision was prompted by politics of "hatred and divisiveness" practised by its members. He further said he couldn't accept BJP leadership's "refusal to acknowledge...good work of a Bengali". BJP national secretary Anupam Hazra responded saying it's "ironical he didn't discover these traits and vices" when he was a minister.
