A criminal complaint has been filed against senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad for making seditious statements against the Indian Army. The complaint has been filed in Delhi's Patiala House Court. Besides Azad, senior Congress leader Saifuddin Soz has also been named in the compliant. Azad had sparked a controversy when he said Army operations in the state killed more civilians than terrorists, eliciting a strong response from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which accused Congress of trying to demoralise the armed forces.
Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Saifuddin Soz had created a furore by toeing the line taken by former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Kashmir. Speaking to news agency ANI, Soz said that given a choice, Kashmiris would prefer to be independent.
