Gujarat on Wednesday reported 12,553 new Covid-19 cases, highest single-day count so far, taking its tally to 4,40,731. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 5,740 after 125 more persons succumbed to the infection during the same period. 4,802 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered cases in the state to 3,50,865. The number of active cases crosses 84,000-mark. At present, Gujarat has 84,126 active COVID-19 cases, of which, 361 patients are on ventilator. The first dose of vaccine has been given to 90,93,538 persons and the second dose has been given to 16,22,998 persons. A total of 1,07,16,536 persons have been vaccinated so far. There has been no case of adverse reaction or side-effects of Covid-19 vaccine in the State so far. The state's recovery rate stood at 79.61 percent, it said.
