The Supreme Court on Tuesday said the legality of marriages among consenting adults could not be examined by courts and investigating agencies and added that its decision on Hadiya nee Akhila Asokan’s marriage to Shafin Jehan would not be influenced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe it had ordered six months ago into the larger ‘love jihad conspiracy’.
