A metropolitan court here issued summons on Wednesday to Congress president Rahul Gandhi over a criminal defamation complaint filed against him for allegedly calling BJP national chief Amit Shah a “murder accused”. This is the second case in which Gandhi has been summoned over defamation charges by Ahmedabad’s metropolitan courts.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate D S Dabhi took cognizance of a complaint filed by a local BJP councillor, Krishnavadan Brahmbhatt, and summoned the Congress leader on July 6. Brahmbhatt has sought action against Gandhi for his statement made during an election speech in Jabalpur on April 23, when he had reportedly said, “Murder accused BJP chief Amit Shah, waah, kya shaan hai!”
