In a pre-dawn action on Wednesday, Pune police arrested five persons with alleged Maoist links from Nagpur, Mumbai and Delhi for their role in organising the Elgar Parishad at Shaniwarwada fort in Pune, a day before the January 1 clashes in Koregaon-Bhima. Police said provocative statements were made at the Dalit meet which contributed to the clashes the next day.
