A day after BJP released its poll manifesto, Congress released its Karnataka election manifesto, 'Sarva Janangada Shanthiya Thota' which translates to 'Peaceful garden of all communities', on Tuesday morning in Bengaluru in the presence of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah, state unit president DK Shivakumar and Chairman of the Manifesto Committee Dr Parameshwaraji, among other party leaders.
Among its several top poll promises, the grand old party has promised to fill all the vacant sanctioned government posts within one year and ban organisations, including Bajrang Dal, Popular Front of India, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad among others, which promote "enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities".
The manifesto reads, "The Congress Party is committed to taking firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations spreading hatred amongst communities on grounds of caste or religion. We believe that law and Constitution are sacrosanct and can not be violated by individuals and Organisations like Bajrang Dal, PFI or others promoting enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities."
The party also promised to create Prakruthi Vikopa Nidhi (Natural Disaster Fund), a permanent fund, by creating an initial corpus fund of Rs 5,000 crores. It has also promised high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots in every gram panchayat and amid the Amul-Nandini row, it would to increase milk production in the state to 1.5 lakh litres under Mission Ksheera Kranthi.
Making promises for women and transgender, the grand old party has said that one-third of police appointments would be reserved for women and a minimum of one per cent of posts to be reserved for third gender.
The party will further sanction farm loans of upto Rs 10 lakh at zero interest.
