Kerala Police on July 22, 2017 has been arrested Kovalam MLA M. Vincent on charges of rape, stalking and abetment of suicide of a 51-year-old woman. The police on July 21, 2017 moved the Kerala Assembly Speaker for permission to arrest the Congress MLA on the suspicion of raping the woman, his neighbour. The incident came to light early on July 19, 2017 after the woman was admitted to a private hospital following a near-fatal overdose of painkillers.
