Congress MLA Bhagwan Barad from Talala, Gir Somnath district, dismissed from membership of Gujarat assembly in a mining case. The court of Judicial Magistrate found him guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. He was sentenced with a jail term of 2 years and 9 months under section 379 (theft) and 420 (cheating). The case pertained to theft of minerals worth over Rs 2.8 crore from a cow pasture land in Sutrapada, Gujarat in 1995.
