The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), on Friday, informed the Supreme Court that compartment examinations for students of class X and XII would be held by the end of September. The Apex Court has directed CBSE to file an affidavit, by September 10, detailing the schedule of the compartment exams. Also, on how the CBSE plans to hold compartment examination during the pandemic. The counsel for CBSE informed the Supreme Court that the number of centres has been increased to 1278. The court was further told that as a matter of safeguard during the pandemic a class which would normally accommodate 40 students would have only 12. On the other hand the petitioner contended that it was not clear why CBSE cannot cancel the compartment exams when the main examinations were cancelled due to the pandemic.
