The benchmark indices ended with marginal loss after profit booking in the last hour erased all the intraday gains. At close, the Sensex was down 81.48 points or 0.26% at 31561.22, while Nifty was down 12.30 points or 0.13% at 9239.20. About 1084 shares have advanced, 1280 shares declined, and 186 shares are unchanged. Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki and Bharti Infratel were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were ICICI Bank, Dr Reddy’s Labs, BPCL, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HUL. Among sectors, Nifty auto index rose over 4 percent followed by IT, infra, metal, while selling witnessed in the bank and pharma stocks.
