At close, the Sensex was down 566.09 points or 0.94% at 59,610.41, and the Nifty was down 149.70 points or 0.83% at 17,807.70. About 2094 shares have advanced, 1229 shares declined, and 92 shares are unchanged. HDFC Bank, HDFC, HDFC Life, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra were among the top Nifty losers. Coal India, IOC, NTPC, Tata Steel and Power Grid Corp were the top gainers.
